The Department of Biotechnology has a glorifying history of highly meritorious students well placed in esteemed national and international Institutions. The department was founded under the headship of Prof. Dr. V. J. Philip in the year 1994.
Prof. Dr. V. J. Philip retired in 1997. Prior to his retirement, one Reader -Dr. M. V. Joseph (retired in 2014) and two lectures - Dr. P. R. Manish Kumar (retired in 2019) and Dr C. Gopinathan were appointed in 1996. Dr. K. K. Elyas, present HOD, was appointed as Professor in 2009, Dr. Smitha Bava as Assistant Professor in 2010, and Dr. Anu Joseph as Associate Professor in 2022.
